Ghetto Scripture
Intro
An artist/ producer with a distinct production style and a deft use of words - somthing uniquely his, with a flow that successfully mixes the deeply sacred and undoubtedly street, it's FIRE blazin' heat from the mouth of Dwayne Tryumf!
Why this name?
The name Tryumf came about when I was watching a Wu Tang Clan music video called Triumph I saw the title on the screen and liked it and thought that it should be a name, then I looked at my typewriter and the make was called Triumph as I looked at it the thought came to me that I should be called Triumph! I changed the spelling because I knew the name was quite popular and I then found out that the way I had spelt it was how Triumph was spelt in Polish!
Do you play live?
Back in March 2004 I performed in front of about 10,000 at the Earls Court Urban Music Festival (that was a trip! Saw my face on the BIG screen!) and did various other gigs around the country including the legendary Jazz Café, Camden Town, UK.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yeah, it makes it fair play in the industry, more freedom, it's a good thing.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Band History:
Dwayne Shorter AKA Tryumf has been involved in music production & rapping since '97. His involvement with music began in a rap group called Magic Circlewhich featured UK artists such as Marga Man, Blackout, Chris Smoove and Don P (Pierre). He became born again in '99 and his music took on a change in direction. From then on doors opened up for him and for him by way of collaborating with another member of his former group who also came to the faith. The two were known as 'Dwayne & Wayne' In 2000, he embarked on a solo career whilst working for Jetstar records as an engineer / producer. In 2003 he was signed to Jetstar as an artist and producer and during this time he produced tracks with a number of artists on the Jetstar label such as Lloyd Brown, Don Ricardo, Osmond Collins, Reggae Icon Greggory Isaacs, Savanah and also produced the smash hit Incense Riddim album which sold 3000 copies in just 3 months and is still tearing up the dancehall since it's release last year! In all the hype of the dancehall scene Tryumf never left his love for Hip Hop and in March 2004 he performed in front of 10,000 at the Earls Court Urban Music Festival with ZION NOIZ and did various other gigs around the country including the Jazz Cafe, Camden, UK. Tryumf has worked behind the scenes for a lot of gospel artists engineering and producing on their tracks including Greenjade, Jahaziel, Four Kornerz, as well as mainstream artists such as Big Brovaz, AC Burrell, Fallacy and others all from the UK. To keep listeners happy Tryumf has put together an album called Ghetto Scripture. The current single from the album is called The Limit and has been getting regular airplay from both gospel and commercial Djs. My suggestion? Watch this space ps Ghetto Scripture is available to order online from www.dwaynetryumf.com and samples from the entire album can be heard at www.ukgpresents.com
