Cross That Line

I met Lynn Conover at the annual Hog Roast on Freak Mountian, Oregon the summer of 1994. A gathering of wonderful and weird country folk musicians from the Great Northwest and beyond and I do mean far out and right on. There was the legendary guitarist and unique entertainer Billy Kennedy. Steve Weber from the Holy Modal Rounders lookin' all barefoot and snaggy. David Reisch, Jimmy Boyer and Bingo who would later become the Freak Mountain Ramblers. Any hooty hooty hoo, Lynn and I would eventually get together along with veteran guitar, bassist Bob Wadle, Ken Woodside on drums, Anonymous John on Lap steel and David Reisch on bass to record this c.d. A strange mix of vocal duets by Lynn and me, banjoes, acoustic and electric guitars that seem to be haunted by the seventies. 1870, 1970 and 1998 all linked together in a post rustic fizz. The title Cross That Line came from a combo idea of Johnny Cash's I Walk The Line and the Andrew Vachss Dark Horse Comics Series Cross which was the inspiration for the title song. Andrew's book Hard Candy was the Basest for Candy's Hard. Colorado Frank has now become my signature song. It's become a staple amoung other artists. Ghostly appearing on c.ds and performed live by the beautifully wacky duo of Little Sue and Lynn get them Conover. As an added bonus the Booklet comes with a wonderful poem called Crazy Vines by Anne LaVallee, soon be a song on the next Bazza album and cartoon heads of the band drawn by Martin Driver, gonzo guitarist from the best ever Michigan garage band Nice Lawn! So that's holey american cheeze of it all. It's been peachy talkin' at ya and I love you without knowing you. C U It's time for my dirt nap Bazza no not really!
